Join the Skating Club at Dartmouth!
The purpose of the skating club is to teach people of all levels and ages to skate. Whether your main goal is to play hockey, be a competitive figure skater, skate across the ice or on a pond, or just to see if you are even interested in skating at all, they can help you.
They offer:
Snow Plow Sam: Designed to help the preschool age skater develop preliminary coordination and strength necessary to maneuver on the ice. Classes are offered once a week and include a 20 min group lesson and a 10 minute open skate.
Basic Skills 1-8: The “BASIC (skating) SKILLS” are fundamental to the sport. The eight levels of the program introduce the fundamental moves: forward skating, backward skating, stops, edges, crossovers, three turns, Mohawks, THESE SKILLS ARE ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS TO BECOMING A STRONG FIGURE SKATER or HOCKEY PLAYER. The Basic Skills give skaters the basic knowledge of the skating, enabling them to advance to the more specialized areas of skating. Classes are offered 1 to 2 times a week with a 30 min. group lesson and a 20 min. open skate.
Freestyle: This is for those skaters who have gone through the basic skills 1-8 and would like to pursue figure skating. Sessions are offered, 1-5 times a week. Private lessons are also available at this time.
They will be having registration for their second fall session on Monday Oct. 24th and Thursday Oct. 27th at Campion Rink 4:00-5:30 PM. If you have any questions, please email sk8info@scadskaters.org. Learn more at the skating club website.
